Account-Based Marketing for B2B Companies in Malaysia

Marketing aimed at the companies your sales team already wants to win.

Account-based marketing points your marketing at a named list of target accounts, agreed with your sales lead first.

Overview

When four contracts carry half your revenue, marketing to an audience points at the wrong thing. The people who decide sit inside a handful of companies you could name from memory. DWP Digital runs account-based marketing and demand generation programmes for B2B companies in Malaysia whose revenue depends on a defined set of large accounts.

Every programme starts with a list agreed with your sales lead. It is one of our three B2B marketing solutions.

01The market

02 Solutions

People you never meet decide the deal.

A B2B purchase of any size pulls in procurement, finance, IT and the team that will use the thing, plus advisers outside the company. Most of them never speak to your salesperson. They read what your company has published, ask a colleague, and form a view long before anyone calls. The thought leadership figure comes from a US sample, so read these as a benchmark rather than local data.

So the unit of work is the account, not the lead. We market to the whole group inside it and measure that account’s engagement rather than counting form fills.

One list. One set of definitions.

03

Where account-based marketing beats a wider net.

Account-based marketing earns its place where deal values are high and the market is small enough to name. Where the model is high volume and low value, a wider programme built on SEO and content will cost less per opportunity. We give that assessment before proposing a scope.

Marketing and sales agree which companies are in scope, and the campaigns then follow that list: the content those buyers need, who to reach inside each account, and where to reach them.

We buy nothing before that list exists.

04

Five moving parts, one agreed account list.

An agreed account list, content built for those accounts, LinkedIn activity aimed at the decision makers inside them, paid campaigns targeted at the same list, and email nurture in between. One team delivers all five under a single retainer, so no part of it works from a different list.

  • 01

    Account list

A workshop with your sales lead names the accounts, sorts them into tiers and sets priorities, with research on who decides inside each one.

  • 02

    Account content

Pages, guides and reference pieces matched to account tiers. The top tier gets tailored material, while a wider tier shares campaign assets.

  • 03

    LinkedIn activity

Company and executive activity aimed at named decision makers inside the target accounts, timed with the campaign calendar so those accounts meet one message.

  • 04

    Paid campaigns

Account-targeted LinkedIn and search campaigns built around the agreed list. The platforms bill you for media directly, so budget stays in accounts you control.

  • 05

    Nurture

Email sequences that keep in touch with engaged accounts through long evaluation periods, so an account still hears from you between campaigns.

05

Demand generation and lead generation are not the same job.

Demand generation builds awareness among buyers who are not in the market yet. Lead generation captures the details of buyers already evaluating. A B2B programme runs both: demand across several quarters, capture aimed at whoever is active this month. Confusing the two is how a budget ends up judged on the wrong number.

DWP Digital works as a lead generation agency in Malaysia inside that wider structure, so an account first reached at the awareness stage stays in the same measurement all the way through.

We do not guarantee timing or outcome.

Demand generation and lead generation can run at once, and an account stays in the same measurement all the way through.

06

Marketing and sales work from one list, or it does not work.

Alignment is not a meeting. At the start we agree which accounts qualify, what counts as engagement and at what point an account passes to your sales team, and those definitions then appear in every report, so nobody argues about what a number means.

In practice that means a shared account tracker and a monthly review with your sales lead.

Where ABM is one layer of a broader programme, it runs inside Marketing as a Service, on one plan and one reporting cycle.

One account list, one set of definitions, a shared tracker and a monthly review with your sales lead.

07

Three services, one account list.

One pod delivers the five parts through three of our services, all working from the same agreed list. Content marketing produces the account content, LinkedIn marketing carries the company and executive activity, and performance marketing runs the paid campaigns. We report all of it once, for the whole programme.

  • 01 Content marketing Pages, guides and reference pieces matched to account tiers, written and designed by the same team, with tailored material for the top tier.
  • 02 LinkedIn marketing Company page and executive activity aimed at the named decision makers inside your target accounts, timed with the campaign calendar.
  • 03 Performance marketing Account-targeted LinkedIn and search campaigns built around the agreed list, with the platforms billing you for media directly, from accounts in your own name.

08

Frequently asked questions about ABM scopes.

How many accounts, how long it takes and who does what between marketing and sales come up in most opening conversations. Below are the positions we take before we write a scope, so you know the terms before anyone commits a budget.

How many accounts should an ABM list contain?

There is no fixed number. Most programmes use a tiered list, with a small top tier receiving tailored content and a wider tier sharing campaign assets. Sizing depends on deal value, how many accounts your sales team can service properly, and the capacity in the retainer. We agree it in the opening workshop.

How long before an ABM programme shows results?

It varies with the sector, the deal size and the length of the buying cycle, and we plan these programmes in months rather than weeks. We report account engagement and meeting activity from the first month, alongside pipeline recorded in your CRM. We do not forecast a specific result or a date for it.

Is ABM suitable for smaller B2B companies?

It depends on deal value rather than company size. Where contracts are high in value and the market is small enough to name, a smaller programme can run inside a modest retainer. Where the model is high volume and low value, demand generation and SEO are the better place to start.

Do you replace our sales team?

No. We cover the marketing side: account research, content, campaigns and nurture. Relationships, meetings and closing stay with your sales team. We write the reporting so your people have the account context and engagement history to hand for their own conversations.
